Urbanspace
About This Spot
Stepping into Urbanspace in the heart of Chicago’s Loop, you’re immediately met with the steady hum of conversation and the inviting buzz of a communal dining hub. This isn’t just another food court—it’s a thoughtfully curated gathering place where a diverse array of flavors and stories come together under one roof. The atmosphere effortlessly balances the energy of a bustling city center with pockets of calm, thanks to its open layout spread across two levels of shared tables and warm, straightforward design.
Here, the pace is casual but lively, inviting you to linger or grab a quick bite between errands or meetings. The variety of food stalls offers a mosaic of tastes—from vibrant Asian bowls and hand-crafted sandwiches to vegan delights and classic comfort foods prepared with a fresh, personal touch. What makes the experience truly special is the sense of discovery that comes from wandering between stalls, catching glimpses of passionate cooks shaping menus that echo their own cultural roots alongside bold, modern twists.
While the space itself errs on the simple side architecturally, it’s the human moments and diversity of choices that shape its character. Whether you’re savoring a thoughtfully spiced curry, biting into a perfectly crispy sandwich, or settling into a sweet treat paired with a well-crafted espresso martini, there’s a rhythm here that feels both communal and individual. The open seating encourages shared experiences, yet there’s enough quiet corners for moments of reflection, making Urbanspace a place where everyone can feel at ease in the city’s fast fold.
Above all, Urbanspace thrives on its role as a hub—connecting locals and visitors alike through genuine food experiences, candid conversations, and that rare sense of being part of Chicago’s evolving culinary story.

Update: Sidebar Beer, still pours but the waitstaff at Peregrine Bar serves. Resto stalls come & go and not all featured on this Urbanspace site. Glad to have Urbanspace in The Loop. Good casual dining selections, happy to have Sidebar Beer stall options. Had a Sat lunch a Bianca’s, very good BBQ Chicken and coleslaw. As of Sept 2022 closed. few stalls still empty, communal dining on 2 levels. Accessible areas. Have been to Sushi Dokku, as good as the West Loop locale. Had Plant Junkie’s cold peanut noodles, yum with my sushi.

Good variety of food joints offering Greek Indian, American, Asian/Japanese, Vegan etc etc. Plant Junkie serves yummy vegan food. Definitely worth trying Bangkok curry is awesome, wish noodles were hot other than that tasted very good., mixture of hot and cold items. Enough greens to keep you satisfied. Stan's donuts, good variety and tasted great. Order before they are gone, Once they are gone, no replacing, particularly in the afternoon.

Great choices packed into this food hall and at a very convenient location! What the heart of downtown lacked was a quality food hall with decent fast foods but not chain stores and Urbanspace fits the bill! The most exciting part is that Isla is here! Isla is a Philippino Restaurant that was in Lincoln Square which closed down last year. Finding them here was a pleasant surprise. Their food is simply awesome!

Urbanspace in Chicago is a standout spot if you're after variety and quality. With so many food options to choose from, there's something for everyone, all at prices that won't break the bank. My wife and I found our own favorites. She was a big fan of Plant Junkie, and I was seriously impressed with the kabobs. It's not often you find a place that caters to different tastes so well. All in all, Urbanspace delivers on offering tasty, reasonably priced food in a bustling environment. Whether you're into plant-based eats or you're more of a kabob fan, there's a good chance you'll find something you love here. Definitely worth checking out when you're in Chicago.

A great Food Plaza in the artistic heart of Chicago. There are many good options with relatively affordable prices. The architecture is rather simple but effective. I would put more flowers or color to make it an even more warm environment. The restrooms are only accessible through a code that is included in your receipt. So, keep it with you until the end. Also, there is free fresh water with small cups next (but not super close) to the restrooms. The second floor has a good sight of the place. There also are spaces with tables for groups of five or more. These rooms have power outlets but none of them seemed to be working. I had to ask one of the vendors to allow me to charge my phone in their spot. She was very kind to allow me to do so.

We loved the fact we could have what we each wanted. Partner went for a sandwich (so big that half came with us) and I had a make yourself salad (amazing service) Would we return? We will

Didn't buy anything here but went in to check out the place. Noticed the workers are warm and ready to serve. Observed people ordering and the wait time isn't long as they got served in good time. Different things from coffee and pastries to entirely different sets of food, this place is located both at good distances and nicer spot than some similar competitors. At any time I'll like to order in this place or just enjoy the nice environment.
